Senate Moves Forward With Health Care Vote

Law360, New York (December 21, 2009, 1:47 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate voted early Monday to set up landmark health insurance reform legislation for a final vote that could come as soon as Christmas Eve.

Senators voted 60-40 to invoke cloture on the manager's amendment to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which will be added to the bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in November.

The vote was the first and most important of three procedural hurdles that must be overcome before the Senate can vote on the entire bill....
