USPTO Urged To Revisit MP3 Patents

Law360, New York (November 27, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Locked in a battle over MP3 player technology, Chinese chip designer Actions Semiconductor Co. Ltd. has asked the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to reexamine certain patents that are at the center of its infringement dispute with SigmaTel Inc.

The company revealed Monday that it had petitioned the USPTO in hopes that the agency will discover evidence that could help Actions in its drawn-out patent war over digital audio processing technology.
