With Sales, FTC Clears Agrium Takeover Of CF

Law360, New York (December 23, 2009, 2:16 PM EST) -- To eliminate competition concerns, the Federal Trade Commission said agricultural products supplier Agrium Inc. must sell two anhydrous ammonia terminals if it is successful with its approximately $5 billion bid to acquire rival CF Industries Holdings Inc.

Agrium has been trying to purchase CF Industries for about nine months. On Monday Agrium extended its offer to Jan. 22 to acquire Illinois-based CF Industries for $45 a share plus one Agrium share per CF Industries share.
