Probation Officers Slap Calif. County With OT Suit

Law360, New York (January 5, 2010, 4:46 PM EST) -- A union representing probation officers and group counselors in California has sued Santa Clara County for allegedly miscalculating overtime wages for bilingual and night shift officers since the county changed its compensation policy in early 2007.

The Santa Clara County Probation Peace Officers' Union, AFSCME Local 1587, filed suit Saturday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California over the county's alleged refusal to include “bilingual pay” and “night shift differential” as part of the regular rate it uses to calculate overtime compensation....
