EEOC Sees Near-Record Number Of Bias Claims In '09

Law360, New York (January 6, 2010, 5:06 PM EST) -- The number of workplace discrimination charges filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reached near-record highs in 2009, with the largest increases coming in disability and retaliation matters, the agency reported Wednesday.

There were 93,277 charges filed during the 2009 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30 — the second-highest total ever, according to the EEOC.
