Sarkozy Floats Google Tax, Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (January 8, 2010, 1:25 PM EST) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy has voiced his support for both an antitrust investigation of Google Inc.'s advertising operations and a possible tax on the company aimed at supporting copyright holders whose business has been shaken up by the online availability of illegal free content.

Reuters reported that Sarkozy made the comments Thursday during a speech in Paris to leaders of the French arts and entertainment industry.
