Law360, New York (January 8, 2010, 3:50 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a Title VII disparate impact suit accusing the state of New Jersey of discriminating against black and Hispanic police officers, who score significantly lower than white candidates on the state's written test for promotion to the rank of police sergeant.
The Justice Department filed the lawsuit Thursday against the state and the New Jersey Civil Service Commission in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
