Ricoh Sues Taiwanese Rivals Over Optical Disk Patents

Law360, New York (May 11, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Japanese electronics and office supply maker Ricoh Co. has filed lawsuits against Taiwan's Lite-On Information Technology Corp., CMC Magnetics Corp. and their related firms over the use of optical disc-related technologies.

The lawsuits, which are unrelated and were filed separately Monday in U.S. District Courts in Texas and California, seek unspecified damages and an injunction forcing the firms to stop using Ricoh's patented technologies.
