Law360, New York (February 18, 2010, 12:30 PM EST) -- In September 2009, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit held that a university researcher’s assignment of inventions in favor of a private company trumped an earlier contract whereby the researcher had agreed to assign the inventions to the university. Board of Trustees of Leland Stanford Junior University v. Roche Molecular Systems Inc., 583 F.3d 832, 849 (Fed. Cir. 2009).
