Mayer Brown Slams Ex-Refco Employee's RICO Claims

Law360, New York (January 19, 2010, 2:56 PM EST) -- Mayer Brown LLP has asked a federal judge to toss a suit brought by a former executive at a Refco Inc. affiliate claiming the law firm violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act in its representation of the now-defunct brokerage firm and cost him a $3.75 million bonus.

The law firm filed a motion to dismiss the RICO suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, saying the plaintiff lacked standing to bring the claims.
