400 Tons Of Beef Recalled Over E. Coli Risk

Law360, New York (January 19, 2010, 12:43 PM EST) -- Huntington Meat Packing Inc. has recalled more that 400 tons of beef thought to be contaminated with E. coli bacteria, though much of the beef was shipped two years ago.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the recall Monday, saying that the possible contamination was discovered by a safety assessment by inspectors from the department's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The problem was initially discovered in beef shipped by the Montebello, Calif.-based company between Jan. 5 and Jan. 15, the department said.
