By Pete Brush (December 6, 2021, 7:37 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Monday blocked lawyers for a state judge accused of obstructing a 2018 probe into New York City's Municipal Credit Union from asking the troubled lender's former general counsel for details about his own firing a year later.

Manhattan U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan testily forbade the team representing defendant Sylvia Ash, the presiding justice in Brooklyn's commercial division before her 2019 arrest and suspension, from asking former MCU general counsel Thomas Siciliano if he was fired that year for what the defense characterized as poor job performance and misconduct.
