DOJ Seeks To Undo Dean Foods, Foremost Farms Deal

Law360, New York (January 22, 2010, 6:32 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has filed an antitrust lawsuit seeking to undo a recent acquisition of two milk processing plants in Wisconsin by Dean Foods Co., claiming that the deal limited competition among dairy processors in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, alleges that Dean Foods' April acquisition of Foremost Farms USA's consumer products division effectively eliminated one of Dean Foods' key rivals, curbing competition in the sale of milk to schools,...
