Songwriter Sampled In 'My Humps' Wins Copyright Feud

Law360, New York (January 22, 2010, 6:59 PM EST) -- A man who co-wrote a song that was later sampled by the pop group The Black Eyed Peas in their hit song “My Humps” has won a copyright suit against his collaborator, who illegally granted a license to the music group without the plaintiff’s consent.

Former Ohio radio personality Orrin Lynn Tolliver won summary judgment against his collaborator James Louis McCants in a order handed down Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
