Judge OK's Calpine's Extension Request

Law360, New York (December 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge signed off Wednesday on Calpine Corp.'s request for six more months to to exclusively file its reorganization plan, although the company has said the extension may not provide enough time.

Last month, Calpine asked Judge Burton Lifland of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York for the extension, saying that the complexity of the case – which involves 274 debtors and $18 billion of funded debt – warrants an extension of the exclusivity cut-off date.
