Senate Approves Comprehensive Iran Sanctions

Law360, New York (January 29, 2010, 12:35 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate has backed a comprehensive bill that attempts to thwart Iran's nuclear ambitions by imposing new sanctions on Iran’s refined petroleum sector and toughening existing penalties against the country and its trading partners.

Senators signed off on S. 2799, the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act, by a voice vote late Thursday.
