Union Claims ConocoPhillips Withheld Job Bids

Law360, New York (December 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A labor union representing workers at a ConocoPhillips refinery has taken the energy company to federal court for allegedly withholding bids for open positions and hiring subcontractors to perform duties usually done by employees.

The union, known as the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union, filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the District Court of Montana on Monday, after ConocoPhillips violated its agreement with the union and failed to comply with a subsequent arbitration...
