Class Action Slams Hospital Over Unnecessary Stents

Law360, New York (January 29, 2010, 1:02 PM EST) -- Attorneys have filed a putative class action against a hospital near Baltimore, accusing a doctor at the facility of performing unnecessary heart stent implants on hundreds of patients.

The suit, filed on Thursday in Baltimore City Circuit Court, claims that Dr. Mark Midei allegedly performed the cardiac catheterization operations with stent placement on patients who didn't need it at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Md.
