Trading Tech Wins Small Change In Refco Deal

Law360, New York (December 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The software company that took on the futures trading industry with a slew of patent infringement lawsuits, Trading Technologies International Inc., has settled its dispute against bankrupt brokerage Refco Inc., but was able to squeeze just $350,000 out of the firm.

The settlement was a fraction of the $35 million sought by Chicago-based Trading Technologies when it filed the lawsuit in February 2005. Most patent infringement lawsuits cost considerably more than the value of the deal, although it’s unclear how much Trading Technologies paid its counsel,...
