Conseco, Former CEO Settle Suit Over Loans

Law360, New York (December 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A protracted dispute between insurer Conseco Inc. and former chief executive Stephen C. Hilbert over unpaid loans was settled Wednesday, two months after the U.S. Supreme Court refused Hilbert’s appeal.

Both parties refused to divulge the terms of the settlement, which resolves three years of litigation between the insurance company and its former chief executive.

The agreement resolves two separate lawsuits: one filed in Hamilton County, Ind., in which Conseco had already won a judgment of $62.7 million in 2004; and another filed in Chicago, where...
