Grassley Sounds Off On Bankruptcy Judges, Lawyers

Law360, New York (December 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- At a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing Wednesday, a Republican senator railed against bankruptcy attorneys and judges, and questioned whether bankruptcy judges’ criticisms of bankruptcy legislation enacted last year ran afoul of the ethical rules that bind the judiciary.

Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa said that he planned to pen a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts asking if judges had violated their ethical obligations through their vocal disapproval of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA), which Grassley sponsored.
