Tenet Sidesteps Hospital Class Action

Law360, New York (December 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has shot down a hospital’s bid for class action status in its case against Tenet Healthcare Corp., the hospital chain that allegedly bilked Medicare out of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Boca Raton Community Hospital Inc. first sued Tenet in March 2005. In its complaint, it said that Tenet’s pricing policies before 2003 had violated federal racketeering charges and caused Boca Community and over 3,000 other hospitals to receive diminished Medicare reimbursements.
