EPA Reveals Plans To Secure Coal Ash At 22 Sites

Law360, New York (February 5, 2010, 2:19 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released action plans to improve the safety of coal ash impoundments at 22 electric utility facilities across the country, as the agency continues its response to a massive Tennessee dam burst in 2008.

American Electric Power, Duke Energy Carolinas LLC, Dynegy Midwest Generation Inc., PacifiCorp Energy and other electric providers drew up the action plans in response to structural assessments EPA made at the facilities in 2009, the agency said Thursday.
