Hearings Begin On Refco Chapter 11 Plan

Law360, New York (December 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The end of a stay in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection marked by complicated legal wrangling and extended creditor disputes may be near for embattled futures broker Refco Inc., with hearings on the company’s reorganization plan slated to kick off Friday morning.

Judge Robert Drain of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York will hear arguments for the confirmation of Refco’s Chapter 11 plan, which lays out a strategy for distributing $3.65 billion to the company’s creditors.
