United Insurers Dodge $400M In Settlement Claims

Law360, New York (February 11, 2010, 4:21 PM EST) -- UnitedHealth Group Inc.'s liability insurers are off the hook for most of the $400 million in settlements stemming from United's alleged underpayments to plan members, a federal judge has said.

United will have to pay its settlements itself, with possible exceptions for attorneys' fees, Judge Patrick J. Schiltz of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota said in an order issued Tuesday.
