Analysts Pan Air Products' $7B Bid To Inhale Airgas

Law360, New York (February 12, 2010, 4:07 PM EST) -- As Air Products & Chemicals Inc.'s $60-per-share bid for rival Airgas Inc. went from testy to hostile, analysts following the litigation-spiced, $7 billion acquisition fight said the jilted suitor had a tough fight ahead.

Jefferies & Co. Inc. analyst Laurence Alexander said in a research note published Tuesday that "as a practical matter, we believe the chances that [Air Products] can successfully complete a hostile offer are low."
