Landowners Sue Anadarko Over Oil, Gas Royalties

Law360, New York (February 12, 2010, 1:15 PM EST) -- Anadarko Petroleum Corp. is facing a putative breach of contract class action that alleges it has skimped on royalties for oil and gas sales and connived to pass production costs off on unsuspecting landowners.

The complaint — transferred Thursday from state court to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma — claims Anadarko has held out on royalty payments and padded its own profits at the expense of the named plaintiff and a proposed class of mineral interest owners in Oklahoma.
