Experts Critique Federal Plan To Stop Invasive Carp

Law360, New York (February 25, 2010, 3:25 PM EST) -- The federal plan to block invasive Asian carp from migrating into the Great Lakes does not attack the problem with the requisite urgency, according to experts testifying before the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources’ water and power subcommittee Thursday.

While most parties at the hearing agreed that ecological separation is the only surefire way to prevent the spread of invasive species between waters, there was wrangling over the commercial and environmental impacts of near-term emergency fixes.
