UK Competition Body To Rework Remedies

Law360, New York (February 25, 2010, 5:52 PM EST) -- Stung by two recent losses at the appellate level, the U.K.'s Competition Commission has decided to rework its approach to remedies so its decisions hold up better to scrutiny.

The commission intends to firm up deadlines and issue its preliminary findings sooner in each investigation, giving its teams more time to draft cogent remedies, it said Wednesday.

The organization began a review of its approach to remedies in October 2009, after the Competition Appeal Tribunal partially reversed commission decisions after appeals by Tesco PLC and Barclays...
