AD-II Escapes SRAM's Bicycle Gear Shift Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 1, 2010, 1:13 PM EST) -- Reversing a lower court, a federal appeals court has found two claims of an SRAM Corp. patent on bicycle gear shifting technology invalid, letting rival AD-II Engineering Inc. off the hook in a decade-long patent infringement suit.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that the asserted claims of the patent, U.S. Patent Number 4,900,291, were invalid because they were anticipated by a Japanese patent, overturning a decision by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
