Amazon Strikes Back At IBM

Law360 (December 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- In harshly worded counterclaims, online retailer Amazon.com Inc. has sought to turn the tables on IBM Corp., accusing the computer giant of copying its e-commerce technology and asserting invalid patents.

Amazon.com accused IBM in the Dec. 14 document of deceiving the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office while obtaining the patents at the center of the lawsuit.

Moreover, claims made by IBM that Amazon.com’s business model is built on IBM’s patents have “no basis in fact,” according to the counterclaims.
