Uniloc Targets 15 Cos. In Software Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 2, 2010, 6:14 PM EST) -- Uniloc USA Inc. has launched a patent infringement lawsuit against more than a dozen software companies for violating its software registration patent.

The complaint, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claims 15 companies — including Absolute Software Inc., Cyberlink.com Corp., TOPS Software Corp., Informatics Holdings Inc. and Diskeeper Corp. — are violating a patent covering a method for activating and registering software products.

Uniloc says each of the defendants manufacture software products that infringe U.S. Patent Number 5,490,216....
