Auto Glass Co.'s Award Upheld In Quarrel With Insurer

Law360, New York (March 2, 2010, 5:20 PM EST) -- A federal judge has upheld a $400,000 arbitrator's award won by Alpine Glass Inc. in a dispute in which the auto windshield repair company accused Illinois Farmers Insurance Co. of shortchanging more than 1,000 drivers for car window repairs.

Judge Patrick J. Schiltz's ruling, issued Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, came some six months after Minnesota's highest court ruled that auto glass vendors can pursue the so-called short pay claims on behalf of individual policyholders.
