Commerce Affirms Hand Truck Duty In Bond Street Case

Law360, New York (March 3, 2010, 2:26 PM EST) -- U.S. trade officials have dashed Bond Street Ltd.’s bid to avoid hefty anti-dumping duties imposed on hand trucks from China, ruling on remand that the company’s imported luggage cart indeed qualifies as a hand truck and merits the 383 percent tariff.

The U.S. Department of Commerce submitted its final remand determination Tuesday in the U.S. Court of International Trade, concluding that Bond Street’s Stebco cart shares the functions of a hand truck and falls within the scope of the anti-dumping duty order.
