EPA Touts $500M Increase In Superfund Commitments

Law360, New York (March 5, 2010, 2:58 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has said it increased commitments made under its Superfund program to $2.4 billion in fiscal 2009, a $500 million jump from the previous year.

The EPA also finished construction at 20 Superfund sites, for a cumulative total of 1,080 sites with construction completed, the EPA said Thursday in a statement accompanying the release of its annual Superfund progress report.

With the new completions, construction has been finished at 67 percent of Superfund sites, the EPA said.
