SEC's Chief Economist To Step Down

Law360, New York (March 9, 2010, 6:28 PM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced Tuesday that Chief Economist James A. Overdahl, who has served as the agency's principal economic adviser on policy, rulemaking and litigation since 2007, will rejoin the private sector at the end of March.

Overdahl, who advised policymakers on a wide variety of topics affecting securities markets — including the agency's controversial rules on short-selling — plans to leave the SEC at the end of the month to join economic consulting firm National Economic Research Associates as a vice president...
