Doctors, Hospitals Ask To Join WellPoint Class Action

Law360, New York (January 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- More than 30,000 physicians have filed a motion asking to join a putative class action lawsuit that accuses health insurance company WellPoint Inc. and two subsidiaries of illegally rescinding coverage after health care providers rendered services.

Sacramento-based California Medical Association (CMA), which is comprised of more than 30,000 California doctors, filed a motion to intervene in a proposed class action suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of people who received care and then lost coverage.
