Exxon Wins Judgment On $15M Burst Pipe Claims

Law360, New York (March 23, 2010, 5:10 PM EDT) -- Exxon Mobil Oil Corp. has won partial summary judgment in its suit against a construction firm over an allegedly defective pipe that burst in a refinery, costing the oil giant about $15 million when the refinery went into emergency shutdown.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Friday granted summary judgment to Exxon against Amex Construction Co Inc. on breach of general warranty and negligence but denied the company's bid for summary judgment with respect to warranty of competence.
