Intercede Settles ActivIdentity Smart Card Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 25, 2010, 4:23 PM EDT) -- Identity and credential management provider ActivIdentity Corp. has agreed to license its chip card technology to U.K. rival Intercede Ltd., resolving patent and antitrust battles the companies were waging on either side of the Atlantic.

The former foes announced Thursday that they settled ActivIdentity’s infringement action in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California as well as Intercede’s countersuit in the U.K. High Court to invalidate the patent covering security ID cards.
