Bayer, TrimSpa Settle With FTC Over Ads

Law360, New York (January 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission reached settlements Thursday with a slew of companies, including Bayer AG and TrimSpa maker Goen Technologies Inc., accused of making false claims about their popular weight-loss products.

The group settled with the FTC by surrendering cash and other assets worth at least $25 million, and agreed to limit future advertising claims about weight loss and other health benefits, including, in some case, reduced risk of osteoporosis, Alzheimer's and cancer.
