Coastal Sens. Take Issue With Offshore Drilling Proposal

Law360, New York (March 26, 2010, 3:13 PM EDT) -- Ten U.S. senators representing coastal states have said they may withdraw their support for Senate climate change legislation if the bill's lead negotiators cave to pressure to “aggressively pursue" offshore oil and gas drilling.

“Unfettered access” to offshore drilling and exploration could put the coastal regions in greater danger of environmental damage, with no foolproof technology in place to guard against spills and leaks, the senators said in a letter Tuesday to Sens.
