Peer-To-Patent System Poised For Expansion: Kappos

Law360, New York (March 26, 2010, 6:03 PM EDT) -- As it approaches its third anniversary, the peer-to-patent program has “gone extraordinarily well” and could be greatly expanded in the foreseeable future, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Director David Kappos said Friday.

In a speech at New York Law School in Manhattan, where the project was developed, Kappos said the agency was currently examining ways to make the pilot program, which allows members of the public to discuss pending patent applications online and submit prior art, a permanent fixture of the U.S. patent system.
