Techs Sue Carl Zeiss Over Exempt Reclassification

Law360, New York (March 30, 2010, 6:33 PM EDT) -- A group of technicians has hit Carl Zeiss Meditec Inc. with a proposed collective action, alleging the medical device company illegally reclassified them as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and denied them overtime pay.

The employees were considered nonexempt until the company reclassified them in September 2008 and said they would no longer be paid for time worked over 40 hours per week, according to a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
