EPA, DOT Reveal National Vehicle Fuel Standards

Law360, New York (April 1, 2010, 3:04 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation on Thursday rolled out final regulations on national standards for light-duty highway vehicles, ramping up fuel economy mandates and placing first-ever limits on carbon dioxide emissions.

The agencies' joint final rule will establish a single national program that applies to passenger cars, light-duty trucks and medium-duty passenger vehicles for model years 2012 through 2016, setting increasingly stringent fuel economy standards under the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Corporate Average Fuel Economy program and greenhouse gas...
