Suit Over Holland & Knight Role In Nadel Scheme Nixed

Law360, New York (April 1, 2010, 1:24 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed a putative securities class action accusing Holland & Knight LLP of omitting unsavory facts about Arthur Nadel in private placement memoranda the firm crafted for the convicted Ponzi schemer.

Judge Elizabeth Kovachevich of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida tossed the case Wednesday, ruling that the state law claims were barred by the Securities Litigation Uniform Standards Act and that Delaware’s carve-out provision could not preserve the action.
