Mayer Brown Off Hook For $17M Malpractice Claim

Law360, New York (April 5, 2010, 3:59 PM EDT) -- Mayer Brown LLP has prevailed in a bankruptcy trustee's $17 million malpractice lawsuit alleging the firm should have challenged a lawsuit filed by bankrupt health care management company CMGT Inc.'s former financial adviser.

Judge Virginia M. Kendall of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Wednesday granted Mayer Brown's motion for summary judgment on CMGT trustee David Grochocinski's claims.

“To protect the integrity of the judicial system, judicial estoppel must be applied here,” Judge Kendall said.
