Keeping Track Of Carbon Sequestration

Law360, New York (April 16, 2010, 12:50 PM EDT) -- On March 22, 2010, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson signed a proposed rule that would add reporting requirements for carbon sequestration facilities under the Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gases Rule (MRR).

Although carbon sequestration generally refers to the injection of carbon dioxide (CO2) for containment in subsurface geological formations, the proposal also covers injection of CO2 for the purposes of enhanced oil and gas recovery (EOR).
