$30.3M Award V. Asbestos Corp., Borg-Warner Upheld

By Jessica Dye (April 6, 2010, 3:18 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey appeals court has affirmed a $30.3 million jury award against Asbestos Corp. Ltd. and auto parts maker Borg-Warner Corp. in a case involving asbestos-related mesothelioma.

The Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, handed down a per curiam opinion Monday affirming the award to plaintiff Susan M. Buttitta, representative of the personal estate for her husband, Mark Buttitta, who died in 2002 of mesothelioma linked during the trial to direct and indirect asbestos exposure from automotive parts at General Motors Co. warehouses.
