RIM Dropped From Raylon Software Patent Suit

Law360, New York (April 7, 2010, 4:49 PM EDT) -- Research In Motion Ltd. has become the first defendant to resolve Raylon LLC's suit accusing several technology companies of infringing a patent for a system used to issue traffic citations.

Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Tuesday approved the parties' joint motion to dismiss with prejudice their claims and counterclaims pursuant to a confidential settlement agreement.

Each party will bear its own costs and attorneys' fees, according to the order.
