Schwarzenegger Seeks Universal Health Coverage

Law360, New York (January 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has introduced an ambitious new plan to provide health care coverage to all of the state’s residents in a move that could shake up the U.S. managed-care sector.

The Republican governor proposed the plan Monday to expand coverage to 6.5 million uninsured state residents by requiring employers with at least 10 workers to purchase insurance for their workers or pay a fee of 4% of payroll to help offer coverage for the uninsured.
